About This Training Center

Pan Am Flight Academy's Miami facility serves as the company's flagship training center, housing over 30 state-of-the-art Level D full flight simulators. Located where the original Pan American Airways established its pilot training facility in 1980, this location represents decades of continuous aviation training excellence and industry leadership.

The Miami training center features an extensive simulator fleet covering major commercial aircraft types including Boeing 737 variants (Classic, NG, and MAX), 747-400, 757, 767, and 777, alongside Airbus A320 and A330 simulators, plus a Saab 340 Level D device. This comprehensive fleet allows the academy to provide initial type ratings, recurrent training, pilot proficiency checks, LOFT training, and differences training across multiple aircraft platforms.

The facility offers specialized programs including ATP-CTP courses, upset prevention and recovery training (UPRT), instructor courses, and comprehensive ab-initio cadet programs. Pan Am's professional staff and modern facilities are equipped to deliver custom training courses for both individual pilots and airline customers, with FAA and ANAC approvals ensuring international regulatory compliance. The academy also provides aircraft maintenance training and engine run-up/taxi training programs using their simulator fleet.

About Pan Am Flight Academy

Pan Am Flight Academy is a leading provider of aviation training support for regional, national, and international airlines. As the only surviving division of the iconic Pan American World Airways, the academy carries forward a legacy that began in the early 1960s with one of the world's most recognized airlines.

The academy's story began when Pan American Airways opened its own pilot training facility in Miami, Florida in 1980. When Pan Am Airways ceased operations, the pilot training division remained operational and continues to be based in Miami today. This gives Pan Am Flight Academy more years of airline training experience than any other aviation training school in the world.

With over 30 full flight simulators representing the largest variety of commercial aircraft types in the United States, Pan Am Flight Academy operates an extensive fleet of Level D simulators covering Boeing and Airbus aircraft. The simulator fleet includes Boeing 737 variants (Classic, NG, and MAX), 747-400, 757, 767, and 777, as well as Airbus A320 and A330 aircraft, plus the Saab 340.

Pan Am Flight Academy holds FAA and ANAC approvals to ensure all aviation training programs comply with international regulatory authorities. The academy provides comprehensive training including initial type ratings, recurrent training, ATP-CTP courses, pilot proficiency checks, LOFT training, UPRT, instructor courses, differences training, and ab-initio cadet programs. In 2025, Pan Am Flight Academy was acquired by Acorn Capital Management, a private equity firm focused on the Aerospace, Defense, Space, and Intelligence sectors.
